We are in the final stages (or so I'm told) of getting ready to use the DataSync. I've run into an issue I'm not sure how to respond to. I'm hoping someone out there has beaten this and can tell me what they did. Let me explain: Convio doesn't allow two people to be in the same profile. One Convio profile cannot hold 2 people. Whereas we track (2) spouses in the same record, Convio is designed to track them separately. This causes a real issue for us as we store both spouses in the same RE rec. Convio said not only do they recommend splitting them into (2) records in our RE database but it would cause a whole host of issues if we did not. I'm not sure how to proceed as we have been moving away from split records at the request of our constituents. Splitting them again would only aggravate our constituents but I don't see how else to do this. Otherwise, there will be a lot of manual editing of our data from Convio. Can anyone help (or point me somewhere?)Please forgive the cross-posting but I want to get as much feedback as possible.
Hi Ray
we had the exact same problem with Convio/RE synch. We do not have automatic data synch, so I don't know if the solution we came up with will resolve your issue, but here goes:
we created one record per household. Const 1 is the main constituent; spouse is the secondary contact. We have their ind emails in each section, and then we have our enews coded to be sent to both the primary const and the secondary constituent email. When we do the data synch, we just use the FRID to tie the record together, since that is the unqiue identifier.
NOt sure if this is clear - let me know if you have questions - mkelly@cradle.org, since I rarely read these forums.
