Installing Raiser's Edge as VMWare guest

We have a system with up to 40 users online concurrently and are thinking about putting Raiser's Edge as aVMWare guest.  Does anyone have any experience with this or recommendations?

Re: Installing Raiser's Edge as VMWare guest

I have used VMWare enough to know that if there is any other option at all that is probably cheaper and otherwise better.

The VMWare guest is an operating system, not a program. So you would need to have an operating system like windows XP running in VMWare and then Raisers Edge running on it.

By Microsoft licensing this cannot be shared either it has to be it's own copy of the OS for every VMWare install just like if it was it's own physical computer. (if using VMWare server a license for every connected client I believe)

VMware while it can be necessary is also rather slow. A modern Phenom 2 3Ghtz will take atleast 1 core just to maintain the virtual machine's functions in and of itself. Plus due to the virtualization the apps basically take double the processing time.
