How does everyone deal with employees in Raiser's Edge? Do you add them as contacts or as individual constituents?
Or do you use primary business info?

The trouble with having employees as contacts is Actions are only recorded against the company - so if 5 employees are invited to an event and you import that info - you'll end up with 5 invited to event actions etc

We have employees as their own constituent records in the database. I code them as "staff" for their constituency code. I think it's important for staff to have their own records because we solicit them to give to our staff scholarship fund every year, so when a gift is entered, it is attributed to them, not our organization. Staff having their own records will also help you with tracking their actions for an event. Just make sure to change their code to "former staff" once they leave the organization...this was something that was not done in our database until I arrived!
