    Raiser's Edge 7.91

I was just wondering what changes are going to be included with the RE 7.91 upgrade.  Other than the credit card number storage change and the password requirement changes, has anyone seen anything released by Blackbaud that lists what is going to be included with this upgrade?  Also, when is 7.91 going to be available?  Just trying to plan ahead for any major changes.  Smile

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks!!

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

I attended a webinar last week regarding the PCI compliance changes for 7.91, and learned that 7.91 will be the first RE version to officially support Microsoft SQL Server 2008. We were also told it was coming in "late Q2" -- so probably June sometime.

Not a lot of new information, but the SQL 2008 support is big for our organization. I'm not sure what else they've added, but you might consider attending a webinar just for the Q&A session at the end.

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

I'm not quite sure what they're doing with the version number. 7.85 is current, right?

My guess is that since they're adding PCI compliance, it's considered major enough for an upgrade rather than a patch, which would result in 7.90. They've probably had enough issues in beta testing and QA that they're up to 7.91 now, which is the version that will be released to the public.

Just a hunch, though. It's the only thing I can think of that would explain the gap. Maybe someone from Blackbaud can pop in here and give us the official word?

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

    Hello everyone,

Ken you were correct in that the addition of PCI compliance and support of SQL 2008 was considered a significant change.  There was a 7.90 version but it was a limited release version that was sent only to those clients who were participating in the Beta testing of the PCI compliance functionality;  therefore the version that will be a full release available to all clients will be 7.91.

    Have a great day,

    Naomi

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

I'm glad to see you talking about the next version!

Ken, you’re right – PCI does make this a major release.  We started testing with version 7.90, but 7.91 will be the release version.

The Raiser’s Edge 7.91 is scheduled for release in late June.  This version meets the Payment Application Data Security Standards (PA DSS), which facilitates compliance with PCI.  Check out  this blog post for the full story.

Version 7.91 also includes several changes to passwords and security, which is covered in another blog post.

As Ken mentioned, version 7.91 will Support SQL Server 2008.  SQL 2000 and 2005 are still fine to use.

You’ll also be able to Drag and Drop queries into folders Big Smile

Another change is the ability to export specific attribute descriptions if the attribute data type is a table.  For example, in your database you might have an attribute for Interests; this has values of golf, soccer, football, baseball, etc.  With this enhancement, you can select which value(s) to export rather than exporting all values.

There will be more posts about new features and enhancements on The User's Edge blog as we get closer to the release date.

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

Thanks everybody for providing me with this information on RE 7.91.  It really helps to have some ideas of what we can expect with this new release.  Sounds like some nice enhancements, particularly the Exporting one where you can select which value(s) to export rather than exporting all values.

    Re: Raiser's Edge 7.91

I am curious how the upgrades have been going now that 7.91 has been released.

We are planning to upgrade RE from 7.85 to 7.91 as well as EE to 7.78 patch 9. We are integrated (both through the General Ledger and RE/EE) so I am anxious to hear if anyone else has anything to report - good news? Tips or tricks?

I'll repost here if I find anything to report.
