Creation of "ghost" accounts for each connection in the BMC

This is a problem with both Financial Edge and RE and since I am more familiar with RE, I'll post here.  For every user who connects to RE or FE, I get an extra general "ghost" account called "Reuser - RE_ControlConnection" or, for FE, "Bbdba - The Financial Edge". in the BMC  This does not affect the number of licenses, but it affect processes where there should be a single user in the database to perform an action (an "exclusive process").  Any idea how to get rid of these ghost accounts?  Is it related to SQL Server?.

This is related to SQL Server.  BBDBA is the Blackbaud Database Administrator.  BBDBA is the SQL login that the financial and education software uses to make direct changes to the database. The purpose of this separate login name is to ensure that financial and education users do not have direct modification rights of the SQL server database.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you Lisa!   Funny that BB does not have that documented, since it is the source of issues such as dealing with "exclusive" processes.

I'm glad this helped.  It is documented in our Knowledgebase in solution BB172700, titled "What is the BBDBA user?"  Also, with exclusive processes if the BMC (Blackbaud Management Console) is open on the server it will act as a user logged in.  This is documented in most of the Knowledgebase solutions for the particular error message you will receive.

I'm sorry that you have had problems with this.  I hope this clears things up.  You can access our Knowledgebase 24 hours a day.Big Smile
