I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum for this, but maybe it can be moved if not.
I've used RE in two different positions. One for volunteer management and the other, now, for development. My question is regarding scanning donor material that is sent with gifts and linking to RE. I know HOW to do it but I need to verify that I am scanning the documents I need to keep or if I'm scanning too much. Basically now I am scanning all materials, including envelopes and check copies that I receive with the donation.
The other question I have is what do you do with the hard copies then? I have been filing them by batch so that the actual material is not thrown away and can be access if needed but not by donor since the electronic version is linked to each donor record.
I would love any and all information on this subject.

You can create and attach letters to donor constituents through actions and you can store important documentation as a media file.
