One gift with multiple tributes--how do you enter the gift so that the gift amount is split evenly between the tributes?

One gift with multiple tributes--how do you enter the gift so that the gift amount is split evenly between the tributes? For example, we get a check for $100 in Memory of John Doe and Tom Jones. Does the gift have to be entered twice, $50 in memory of John and $50 in memory of Tom? Normally RE tribute module puts the entire amount of $100 for each gift which does not give an accurate count for tributes. How is eveyone else tracking accurate tribute amounts?

The only work around that I've found for this particular issue is to enter the gifts seperately.  That way each is attributed to the correct tribute.  This issue was discussed at the Blackbaud Confrence earlier this week - and although it remains a conern for many, there was no spcific work around other than entering two seperate gifts.

Let me know if you find any different ways to tackle this issue.

I have similar problem when processing New Year/Christmas cards. Some donors will send more than 100 cards so if you do “one to one” entry they will get 100 receipts (if they are not consolidated). If you enter total amount and then add more than one tribute you get what you want BUT if you open honouree/memorial for any of them and then open gift window you will see that you did not split gift amount. According to Blackbaud there is no way of splitting gift amount when entering tribute. I instructed our tribute team to do one to one entry for regular gifts but for specific mass tribute mailing ( like new year cards) to enter one gift and multiply tribute. We will know, if anybody ask for details, for these mailing not to use gift window within honouree/memorial.

Like Sage, here at CIA we also enter the gifts seperately.  Luckily here we haven't had a gift divided in more than 3 tributes.   at my previous job there was an annual gift of $500 divided into about 100 tributes.  We gave up adding all the names to RE (as we never got a gift from the tributee that we entered the first few years)  and just booked the gift on the donor's record and put in the Reference that it was for the 200X Drs list.   we did send out notifications to the tributees and thanks to the 7 drs in the practice giving the gift, The Annual Report listing went something like" in honor of fellow Drs of orthopedics"
