Transcripts combining current and transfer GPA's

How are other HS programs handling final transcripts when a student has transferred in form a school with a different GPA calculation?

Do you calculate all courses taken together on one transcript using your own GPA calculation? Does anyone attach transfer transcripts and leave them off your shcool's transcripts?

Does anyone currently track college applications using either the attribute tab or the education tab? If so, would you please share the pros and cons of doing it your way? We would like to start tracking our data, but I am unsure of the best approach. Thank you!

GPA Calculations when Weighting by Translation Table on Marking Column - ??

We have decided to weight our AP and Honors classes by associating translation tables with marking columns for these courses.

From the User's Guide, it appears as though I can still run both weighted and unweighted GPA's this way. I have created 3 tanslation tables (Standard, AP and Honors) and within each, I have set up both weighted and unweighted GPA values. Do I need to create three separate GPA calculations and check the box "Translate Using" and then choses Standard, AP or Honors Translation Table? I have chosen either "Weighted" or "Unweighted" as the "GPA Type" on the calculation. But do I need to associate each Table to a separate Calculation? What happens if this box is left unchecked? Will it translate using any or all Tables? Can't seem to find this in Knowledgebase or Guides.

Printing Transcripts w/ two Columns

I have not been able to set up our transcripts to print in two columns - I have followed directions in Knowledgebase to set this up (chosing to "Print Details in 2 Columns"). It does not work. And if I choose to "Copy Columns," it just repeats the same info. Has anyone done this? We often have 10 or more courses to list and have trouble keeping to one page....

Use of Student's Attributes

I am curious to know how much information other school's enter in a Student Attribute as well as the reciprocal Relationship attribute.

Specifically, when entering authorized person's to pickup a student, do you also in the authorized person (Relationship) attribute enter the student as someone they are authorized to pick up. It seems redundant to me to do it that way and can be very time cosuming if the parent has a lot of carpool participants.

I know that I have inconsistencies in GPA calculations within our various course types (ie., Honors, AP etc). Historically, it seems weights have been added on the course record and are not being calculated through different translation tables on the marking culumns (although the Standard transation table includes various weight tables...?).

Can anyone with experience calculation both ways advise on the best practice? The knowledgebase info is clear that you should not use both methods, but the explanation for how separate GPA's are calculated on transcripts when added to courses is very confusing to me.

Deleting Departments

Does anyone know if I can safely delete uneccessary course departments if I either reassign courses from these departments to another department OR delete them or mark them No Longer Used?

Student Course Import ID

I am trying to import special project grades for a number of students, for last year. I am following the instructions provided in the knowledgebase solution: http://www.blackbaud.com/esupport/esupport/consumer/esupport.asp?resource=&number=0&id=BB143536

On the solution it is mentioned that I have to provide Student Course Import ID for each student. From what I understand the SCID is created automatically for students when they enroll in a course. When I read the help article for SCID, it only talks about exporting it. My questions is, do I just make up SCIDs for the course "special project" for each student? does this number have to follow a pattern. Will it interefere with the automatic generation of SCIDs?

Finanacial Aid Tab tracking Family Income

Just trying to find out how other schools track the number of persons in a family along with the family income when all the field boxes avalible are for monatary fields instead of just plain text or numbers. For instance if I put in 5 members in a household it shows up as $5.00 and BB says they can't change it. I don't want to use an attribute in a different area, I would like this information all together so I am checking to see what other schools are doing to track family income.

Changing Translation Table Calculations

Does any one know if a Translation Table calculation is changed (say Honors GPA is changed from +1 to +0.5) does this effect any past records or is it only going forward?

Transfer Transcripts

I hope someone has this knowledge! When we have incoming transfer studetns, I will not be transferring their previous school's grades and GPA to our system but I DO want to indicate somehwere on the transcript that the student DID attend another school and to see the attahced transcript from said school. Any ideas? thank you

New to RO, have duplicate courses

I am new to RO (from Admissions) and have inherited course records going back 10+ years. Some courses are duplicates, the same course with slightly different ID's/Names. Some are on different academic years, some on the same academic years. Has anyone had experience with this? Is there a record merge option for courses as there is with individual/applicant records that would retain the associated students/grades? I know I cannot delete course records if there are schedules/grades associated with them. I was hoping I might be able to clean this up through the Export/Import option, by exporting out the duplicate ID/Name/System ID and importing back in the unified record information, but I am very unsure about this.

Any insights?

Request for Dental Records Checkbox

I am hoping to get a few more schools to request a check box on the Medical Tab for Dental Form Received. In Pennsylvania, Dental forms are requred for certain grade levels. We can add an attribute, but it would be better to have the Dental form Recieved check box directly under the Medical Form received and Immunization Form Recieved options.

If you would like to track these items quickly through a query, ask for the Dental form recieved Check box be added to the Medical tab!!!!

Online Course Requests (NetClassroom7)

Has anybody recently implemented the online course requests in Netclassroom7, where students log in and they choose their electives? If so, what are the weak points and we should be on the lookout for, and what went smoothly? We are thinking about this, and I am sure that it will not be as simple as setting up everything and going with the flow. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Keeping Track of Community Service Hours

One of my users wants to keep track of Cummunity Service House for students in EE. They want to break it out with the Date of the activity, the type of activity (Charity Event, Fundraiser, Working with Seniors, etc.) and how many hours the student spent working on these various assignments. Any ideas/suggestions on how to implement this?

Senior Grades

We need to be able to post Senior grades from FA Web into Registrar's Office and run GPA calculations for transcripts. When we do so, grades will be posted for other grade levels also. We do not have senior only classes in courses setup. A posted grade for the underclassmen who continue to have grades added will be confusing for parents in NetClassroom.

Do you have a similar scenario and how are you getting around this issue?
