We have netclassroom running on a web server and are providing access to the Internet, but FAWeb is running on a server that we do not want to open up....can we run them both on the same server or do I have to buy another server...or is there a better option?

Let us use email without BUYING A MODULE!!!!

Blackbaud,

Please get rid of this module for email for Faweb/netclassroom etc. We and many other school have so much invested in email systems and would like to be able to use our existing infrastructure to relay messages for progress reports etc.

This should be integrated with the base software as email is intrigal to all of our communications with students/parents and teachers.

Education Edge login problems!

We are experiencing a problem connecting to our database at various times and locations around our campus. At some workstations that were previously able to connect we are getting an error that reads "Unable to establish database connection. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Cannot open database "database name" requested by the login. The login failed. Native error: 4060". The puzzling thing about this is that I can log in to our network at these workstations using my username and then I can log into EE. The user of this workstation can log into a different workstation using their network login and get into EE. They just can't use their network login to get to EE on their workstation. We have tried all of the knowledgebase solutions but with no luck. Any ideas???

BB Promise to Email New Patches

Creating Multiple Backup Schedules with SQL 2000 - enterprise manager

Because you can not make multiple backup schedules within the BMC, I have found this to be frusturating, and would like to not use 3rd party backup utilities to do so - (simply so all my backups are in the same place, format, etc)

You can open SQL Sercer Enterprise Manager:

1) Expand up your server that contains your FE/EE DB

2) Expand "Management"

3) Click on Jobs

4) Open up your BMC scheduled task - BMC: Scheduled backup (*yourdbname*)

5) Go to the "Schedules" TAB

6) Add a new schedule

This will use the same compression and "days to keep" options that the BMC uses, therefor making the backups in the same location. Offsite your backups like usual and your good to go.

Copying grades from one course to another

We have dual credit classes for seniors (in conjunction with a local junior college) that are taught at our school by our teachers. Some of our seniors drop the dual credit part of the class. When I drop a student from English dual credit, for instance, how do I move him to the regular English class? In other words, I need to copy all grades and other class information from the dual credit class to the regular class. The regular class is taught by the same teacher (and is the same class), but must be listed separately on the transcript since it is not dual credit. How do I copy all grades, etc. from one class to another?

Globally deleting student grades in EE

Does anyone know how to globally delete student grades for a particular term (all of 6th, 7th and 8th grades for Semester 2) that have already been posted in EE. So far the only way I've found to delete grades that have been posted to EE is to go into each student record and delete each grade for each class. I can also go into each class and delete grades this way, which seems more efficient, but still will take a long time to do. There's got to be a better way to do this. Any ideas? Thanks. LeAnne

I am presently on a task force to gather information on “Best Practices” of expansion/enrollment. I’m hoping you can help by sharing your own enrollment expansion experiences by answering a few of the questions below: 1. How would you describe your school? 2. How long ago did you embark on an expansion? 3. What was the ultimate goal/purpose of your expansion? 4. How did you promote the expansion: ads, networking, events, etc.? 5. I am wondering how to add accent marks to names of applicants or students in Education Edge. We have numerous applicants who have accent marks in their names, but I cannot seem to find a way to do this. Can anyone help? Thank you!

EE/FE Patch 15 Workstation Update Time!

I updated our EE/FE server on Saturday (9/1/07) and it took 1 hour and 15 minutes! This is a 2 CPU Xeon 3.6 MHz, 6 Gig RAM with 2000 Enterprise SQL machine and once I saw the server time I knew what was going to happen when our users got in on Tuesday morning. Our Business Manager worked on Labor day and emailed me that it took her X64 machine 2 hours and 7 minutes to update. (She was the ONLY user on the entire system, NC7 and FAWEB inclusive) This MADDNESS has got to stop! When is BlackBaud going to address this issue? By the time my users finish the update today, BlackBaud will issue Patch 16 (probably Friday). If other BB users of EE/FE are NOT having these time issues I would like to talk with them. None of the candidates have Education Edge experience, so I am looking for ways to determine how quickly they will be able to get up to speed.

FACTS at Family Level

Friends, Our school has traditionally drawn payments through FACTS at the family level in our previous database system. Blackbaud recommends student-level which means multiple transactions/fees per month per family instead of one. Does anyone draw FACTS at the family level, and how?
