Identifying planned gift constituents

Does anyone have a solution to finding potential planned gift constituents in Raiser's Edge in order to implement a planned gift program? We've started with constituents who have a consecutive giving history of 10 years plus.

I have done a search on the Knowledge Base and Blackbaud Analytic service comes up. We want to try to do this ourselves instead of paying for another BlackBaud service.

Number of gifts query

I'm trying to query the # of gifts people have given, and if possible, the # of gifts between certain dates. I see "gift amount" as a field under gifts but not "# of gifts" or something like that; any thoughts?

Querying to Exclude Multiple Attributes

I am trying to create a query that will result in records WITHOUT specific attributes that could be on their records. Because these records have more attributes which are not one of the attributes I don't want, they are being included. I have tried using the operators 'does not contain' and 'not one of', but I get the same results. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Several criteria for a query HELP???

I think I am just having another Monday morning but I am totally stressing over the queries that I have to provide to the ED today. We are going to be mailing a letter to the following and need to get a listing to her. Below is the criteria that she is needing and I think I am confused and totally stressing over the small stuff.

Please segment the following groups for personal notes: 1) Masterkey (not some of the new ones – I will pull a few) all from 2008-092) Donors (including MK) who have given more than $5000 but less than $10,000 from 2009-093) Donors who have given more than $10,000 since 20084) Donors who have not given since 2008 and gave$1000-$5000 in one year since 20045) “ “ $5000+ in one year since 2004

6) “ “ $10,000+ in one year since 2004

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advace!

Query and Pledges

Hi all,

I want to make a query that will pull constituents who've made a gift total of $1000 this calaneder year (2009).

Im having trouble with 'pledges and installment payments'.

basically if i have a constituent who made a monthly pledge for a total of $12,000 every month in November 2008 (1000 in 12/01/08, 1000 in 1/1/09 etc) my "Total gifts" (run on October 30th 2009, dynamic) criteria will not pick that up since the initial pledge was made back in 2008.

any tips / hints?

Can I move saved queries from one folder to another...

We would like to query the database (inquiry only), but using MS/Q don't seem to have access and/or authority.

Query's Total Gift Amount not adding up

Hi all,

I ran a query for a constituent and under output i have from Summary Information -> Summary for Gifts ->Total Amount of Gifts. Under Fliters for that output i have nothing.

It displays $33,000 for total gift amount

I double click that number and I am taken to the constiuent, When I go to the "Gifts" I export gifts grid to excel, delete all soft credits, Replace all "Amount" values with their corresponding "Balance" value (if they there is one, eg for pledges). and SUM the values in the new Amount column

I get a value 33,200. and there is 200 that I cannot account for

I've spent a great deal of time trying to find this missing 200 dollars but I just cannot find it

Please Advise.

Gift total > $750 in a 12 Month Period - Not calendar or fiscal year

I have been asked to query a group of constituents who have given more than $750 in a 12 month period during the last three years, but not necessarily during a calendar or fiscal year. In other words, if a constituent gave $500 in December and $250 in March, since this would not fall into a calendar year I could use fiscal year, but by using fiscal year, I would miss anyone who would have given the same amount in a calendar year. In the same respect, if someone gave $500 in July and $250 in October, since our fiscal year begins in August, I could use calendar year, but would miss anyone who would have given the same amount in a fiscal year. Again, this data is requested for anyone giving this amount during the last three years.

Three questions: 1) Is this possible, and if so, 2) how, or, 3) is there an alternative method of segmentation used as a standard practice?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Querying on last gift to a specific campaign

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to create a constituent query that will pull last gift to a specific campaign. For example, we want to pull a list together of everyone who has contributed to our direct mail campaign and what their last gift and amount were to that campaign. But we just had our annual dinner and auction. So we can't query on last gift as their last gift may have been to our dinner and auction, not to our direct mail campaign. We need to merge this query with other queries, so last gift to our direct mail campaign has to be part of the criteria, not just the output. Is this even possible to pull a constituent query in RE based on last gift to a specific campaign rather than just last gift?

Soft Credits in Query

Does anyone else have an issue with the gift amount not reflecting the actual soft credit amount in Query?? Specifically, following what I consider a "best practice" (Knowledge Base #BB75014), we hard credit the United Way organization and soft credit the appropriate gift amount to each donor. I frequently have a need to query on specific gift amounts. In Query, I always set the “Query Options/Gift Processing” (under “Tools” on the pull-down menu) to “Credit Soft Credits to Recipients / Use amount in grid”. The correct donor gift amount is actually available in the “Soft Credit Amount” field in Query.

This Query is used in the Export module to create my Excel spreadsheets and the donors of these soft credit gifts appear in the exported file and are identified with “$0” gifts. So, I do multiple sorts on the spreadsheet to find and delete these rows.

Is what I perceive to be a weakness in the software an issue with anyone else? Thanks for your input! Karen

Queries for mailing lists

When I create mailing lists, I find that I am having to create very complex suppression queries in order to account for all the possible constituents that I do not want to mail. Some of the mailing information is in solicit codes, some of the suppression is based on constituent codes and then I need to suppress all those donors who have received certain other mailings -- information which I code as an assigned constituent appeal. It seems I have information relating to mailings in too many places, but what do some of you do? Does all of this information end up as an attribute?

I really like using the assigned constituent appeals for mailings because it makes reporting on the success of a mailing so easy (as long as we code gifts properly) so I would like to continue doing that.

Slow query when using "or" with "constituent id one of"

I have been having problems with a query that I ran last year without any issues, but this year, am experiencing extreme slowness when it runs. The only thing that I changed were the gift dates. I just wanted to see if any other RE users have experienced this. We are currently on version 7.85 and haven't upgraded yet to 7.91.

When I run a query to list any constituent who gave a total of $1000 or more last fiscal year, it runs very quickly. As soon as I add OR "constituent id one of" equal to just 15 constituent ids, the query takes forever to run. I have several other OR statements to add asking for particular Constituency codes and certain Constituent Specific Attributes. When I add only those two OR statements to my original query (leaving out the "constituent id one of" part), it slows the query down some, but nothing significant. Adding the "constituent id one of" practically brings the query to a halt.

Has anyone else every experienced similar problems with OR queries? Any suggestions for how to get my query to run? I then have to merge this query with another query and eventually use it in a global add. The one time I got it to run, it took 4 1/2 hours. I have never ran a global add using a query that takes that long to run. Will that cause problems with my global add?

Any help you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated. I have been working on this for two weeks and am totally frustrated with this query.

Pledge Report Help - Master Pledge in one FY & Payments in another

Hello!

I need some help with getting some pledge information and wondered if someone has encountered this before. I need to give my finance dept. and auditors a report that show pledges from FY08 and FY09 (seperate reports) with payments made against those pledges in FY10. I need to be able to show the name, amounts of master pledge, balance on pledge, and the amount of payment made this FY. The Pledge Status report has "include pledges made after" but that doesn't help me because I need a specific range (7/01/07-6/30/08) on the master pledge and a different specific range on the payments (07/01/09-06/30/10). I emailed with support and searched the blog but couldn't find anything. I'm sure someone else's finance dept. must have asked for this kind of thing before. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Query Fund Distribution Problem... HELP!?!?

I am a RE user and have been trying to reconcile our income from RE to our General Ledger. Pulling income based off of Fund Distribution Credit Account number seems like the most logical criteria to use for the Query. The problem is this: gifts in our database that are split between two different funds with different distribution credit account numbers end up getting the total gift amount added into each of the seperate distribution accounts. This is throwing our reconciliation WAY OFF! Is there an output that I am unaware of that will result in showing the split amount of the fund that is tied to the queried distribution account number?

Call Center queries

Hi! I'm new to using the call center plug-in and find that had been used for querying our call center lists is rather cumbersome. Can anyone out there provide insight as to how you've been daily updating your call center lists so they include/exclude constituents properly? I think it would be really helpful to understand how others have been managing this process.

Query of Event Participants

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to create a query of all constituents who have attended 2 or more events over the last 13 years. I thought this would be simple enough, and my criteria is "Event Number Attended greater than or equal to 2" The query pulls these people. However, when I run the query it also seems to be pulling all consituents who only attended one event. Is there a way for me to filter these people out, or is my criteria completely incorrect? The query has upwards of 53,000 records (with duplicates) so it will be difficult to manually suppress all of these incorrect constituents.

Joining a mailing list

I work at a small liberal arts college and pull mailing lists for events and solicitations. I have a request for a mailing to only music majors. I want to join the list so only one brochure is mailed to a household. If there is a couple where both of them were music majors, Head of Household will apply. However, if there is a couple where one of them was a music major and the other was a biology major who also happens to be Head of Household, Head of Household will not work. I want to mail to the music major not to the biology major.

I would like to attach Constituent query to a dashboard, but it doesn't seem to be an option. Am I missing something?

Since this isn't an option, I thought I would attach a Gift Query instead, but then I soon ran into another problem, I can't figure out how to include the Alumni Education information to the output of a Gift Query.

No Results In Constituency

I am trying to create labels based on a query. We have a program at this organization and each constituent involved in the program has an entry under the 'Bio2' tab/Constituent Codes. I have tried running the Query using the Constituent Code and I also tried using the Constituent Description but I keep getting a "Specified record could not be found". There are hundreds of records with the code I'm looking for attached to them. Any thoughts as to why I can't seem to extract any?
