I never expected a quick response... appreciate it. Actually I was just trying to run the sample API applications that comes with the installer package (found in: program files\blackbaud\The Financial Edge\Help\API) which is a VB6 app. Found the code line where to enter username, password and dbase number (also figured the default dbase number was 50 and not 20)... I tried to run it and thats where I got the error. Tried to search management console for settings but I cannot find any....

Im currently at home but Im willing to provide you with the codes I was using as soon as I get to office tommorrow... thanks again

Re: RE API support not installed.

I have not actually used EE before but assuming that is has the same
structure as RE. You have to create you API object (on RE called REAPI)
and initialise with the serial number and/or a user name, password, and
database number. Have you tried just entering the serial number for the
sample database? It should then prompt you to log in. This will only
work if it is a client app where you are able to log in and not a web
app. If you have a web app or want to log in automatically then you
will have to ensure that you select the correct database number. This
is often a cause for this type of error message. On RE it is 50.

David

Re: RE API support not installed.

Hi Dave,

I'm also getting the same error and I'm using the sample database. Also Im using Education Edge and not Raisers Edge. Are there settings that I have to check? I've tried modifying every .ini file that i could find but none of them seems to be doing any change. I was wondering if you could help me out.

Thanks in advance

PS: you can also email me @ francis_penalosa22@yahoo.com

Thanks again...

Re: RE API support not installed.

This normally means that you are connected to the API through an RE database that does not have the API module unlocked. If you are working against the sample database then you should not get this error as it already has all modules unlocked. If you are running against your production database then you either need to purchase the API module or get an unlock code (if you have already purchased it).

David

RE API support not installed.

I was testing out the login sample and I get the following error when authenticating the login. "RE API support not installed."' How does one fix this error?
