Can you expand the details section based on the size of a field

I am creating a Crytal Report that will show write-off activity for a particular period of time. One of the fields we want to include is write-off notes. In a couple of cases the write-off notes are quite long. I know how to make the details section larger by dragging down the bottom edge of the section, but then I end up with a lot of white space where the notes are not as long. Is there a way to have the row size vary from line to line based on the number of characters in a field?

Telephone Numbers

I am a new user to the Crystal Reports and I am having a few challenges. First off, I have a report that I have created for our weekly gifts of $100 or more. On this particular report I have the basic bio info for the constiutent (ie name, address, telephone). Here is the problem...if the constituent has more than one telephone type listed (home, business or email) it will duplicate the information about the gift and the bio info except for the telephone info. How can I get all of the phone types to appear under there name, address, etc.? Second problem, I have created a report for our Golf Tournament Sponosors and I have check the "keep together" for the info but it still seperates the info if needed. Any ideas on this? How to Link non-Indexed Fields in CR

I have a fund export and a gift export to use with a crystal report. But, since the fund id is not "indexed", I can access data in only one table, but not the other. Does anyone have a inidea as to what I can do?

Package Performance results

Greetings,

I've made a report in CR that shows the package description, number of gifts and total gift amount. I have them grouped in specific orders and have them subtotaled by group (which is why the canned appeal analysis report doesn't work for me).

Anyway, now I need to include number solicited for each package, but how do I link the package number solicited to each package? I keep getting the same number for all packages.

Multiple Gifts cause other fields to repeat in Crystal

I am trying to create a new crystal that includes the last 12 gifts (along with date, type, appeal). The report is grouped by the Constituent's sort key and I have included address information in the details section. I am trying to enter the gift information in the detail section. It has been a long time since I have worked on a report of this type and I don't claim to have Crystal mastered but I can't seem to understand why if a donor has more than one gift, the gifts are listed separately (instead of lining up one after the other) and the address fields repeat. I suspect that this is probably something simple, but as I mentioned, my Crystal skills are somewhat limited.

I thought I had Left Outer Joins figured out....

Here is the situation:

I have exported the following tables from RE:

CnBio CnGf_1 CnGf_1_Attr_Cat1 CnGf_1_Attr_Cat2

Joe 20 4 1

Steve 10 1 5

Kate 30 6 3

The sitatuon is that Joe only bought 4 adult tickets (did not have data in CnGf_1_Attr_Cat2), so Crystal XI pulled Steve's adult ticket purchase (CnGf_1_Attr_Cat1) into the "child ticket" field (CnGf_1_Attr_Cat2)

I have played around with several join options, but can't get it to look like it should which is:

CnBio CnGf_1 CnGf_1_Attr_Cat1 CnGf_1_Attr_Cat2

Joe 20 4

Steve 10 1 1

Kate 30 6

Thanks for your help. I need to find a good/affordable on-line training for stuff like this. Any suggestions?

I have a column {@IF} that is based on a formula. It produces the following

CnBiosName (formula created column)

John Not Paid

Paul Paid

Ringo Paid

Ben Rothlisberger Paid

George Paid

I would like a count of how many "Paids" and "Not Paids"

Greetings All,

It is easy enough to use IF in this manner:

If {CnGf_1Note_1.CnGf_1Note_1_Actual_Notes} = "Host Committee 2008 - Gala" Then

"Host"

Else

" "

But what function could be used to see if the field contatins "Host" rather than equals? I need this to be more flexible than looking for "Host Committee 2008 - Gala".

The LEFT function works okay for this, but I think contains would be better.

CR XI not showing all relationships

I am doing some testing and here is what is occuring:

I export First/Last Name of the constituents and the name of individuals that are one kind of individual relationship.

When I open the .mdb file CR XI only sees CnRelind_1_01_Name, but not CnRelind_1_02_Name, etc...

Instead it puts the names from CnRelind_1_02_Name, etc. into the CnRelind_1_01_Name field for any records that DO NOT have any names in these relationships.

I have tried playing around with the linking, but being Crystal Reports does not see CnRelind_1_02_Name etc.. I think there is a more central issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Display Last Modified Date of MDB in Report

Custom Report without an Export

Has anyone tried to set up a Custom Report in Raisers Edge without having to process Export first? Or maybe include an export that has nothing to do with the report itself, just to follow the procedure? I ask because I have set up a queue to automatically export the data every morning. It takes way too long to run the export and report at the same time through Custom Reports - if it runs at all (a large amount of data with on-demand subreports). The reason I want to use Custom Reports and not just send links or create shortcuts for the users is because Crystal Reports does not automatically refresh data (unless someone has found a way???) and will open in the Design screen. Or I can Save Data With Report but in both cases, they will have to manually refresh the report and there is too much opportunity for error.

If field is blank, record does not show?

I have three tables that I exported from RE: CnBIO, CnGF_1, CnGF_1Note1_1, that contain the following fields: First Name, Last Name, Gift Amount, Gift Balance, and a Gift Note

The issue I am having is that if a record does not have data in one of the fields, such as the Gift Note, it does not show that row/record at all.

Age Range formula

I'm trying to replicate what Canned Reports Demographic Reports does when it utilizes the Donor Age Range Table defined in Configuration. However the Donor Age Range table is not available to Export, so I'm struggling to write a formula for age ranges. Ideally it'd be, less than 20, 20-39 years old, 40-59; 60+. Based on a Google search, I tried this:

Select {CnBio.CnBio_Age}
Case is < 20 : '0-19'
Case is > 19, is < 40 : '20-39'
Case is > 39, is < 60 : '40-59'
Case is > 59, is < 150 : '60+'
Case is <= 0 : 'Unknown'

and the formula checker tells me, "The result of seslection formula must be boolean."

Then I'm lost! Anybody know what else I need??

Events Summary Crystal Report

Can anyone help please? I am writing a crystal report from an Event Participation export from Raiser's Edge which includes Registration Fees and Other Donations. The report is grouped by Event with summaries for total participants, total donations and registration fees, the first two summaries return correct totals but the one for Registration Fees is completely wrong e.g. for the London Marathon our total registration fees are approximately just over £6,000, as reported for Raiser's Edge itself, but I am getting a figure of just over £79,000. As a footnote all the table links are all outer joins rather than inner, I had to do this to ensure all Events appeared in the report even though some of them had blank data in Participant numbers and other fields.

Columns to repeat at left

Is there a way, in Crystal, to have the same option in Excel's page setup called "Columns to repeat at left`"? We have too many columns to even fit on a 11x17 so we need the report to print on several pages, repeating the categories at the left on each pages, with the total column on the last page. Thanks.

I am trying to create a formula that adds up all the instances of a particular field. I tried using running totals wizard, but I only want the grand total, not a line-by-line running total.

Basic questions about installing Crystal Reports

We're new to RE and are just ready to install Crystal Reports. I have a few super basic questions I'm hoping someone can help answer.

1. Should we install Crystal Reports on the same server as RE? (We have second where most of our data/files live).
2. Since we only have the one license, will we be able to view reports on workstation A that were created on workstation B?

Custom Purchase Order - problems exporting

I took a standard purchase order and customized it to work for our organization (created more logos, addresses and other information that we needed). This form now prints with no problems for everyone in the organization. The only problem I am running into is when we export the purchase order into pdf the form shifts and is completely distorted.

Any ideas?

Printing Issue in Crystal Reports

Hello, We are using Registrars office 6.8.3 and trying to print forms from Crystal Reports we can print one student at a time but if we select print all students we get the error "mci.ptp: 20691 Error in file the start page can not be greater than the stop page" any thoughts would be appreciated thanks.

Different way to show the details

I have a field contains several details for each constituents, e.g. Person A's interest: swimming, runnging, tennis; Person B's interest: swimming, running;

If I simply put the field in the details section, it will become:

Person A

swimming

running

tennis

Person B

swimming

running

My Question is: Is there any way to display the record like following?

Person A

Swimming Running Tennis

Person B

Swimming Running

I try to use the function "Next(field)" but it will only allow me to use it once, I can use as "Next(Next(field))"

Let me put my question simple. I need the following which i am unable to achieve.

"Java code to print high volume report (containing more than 500 pages) to the local Line Matrix Printer or High Speed DoT MATRIX printer with printer specific fonts with custom size of ( 15 inch x 12 inch )".

We have tried a lot but could not achieve setting the custom page site in java. It works fine in VB and ASP.net with the same crystal report design but not in java.

Here are the details,

I am unable to print the report using the custom paper size setting of 15 (width) x 12 (Height) with printer friendly fonts so that we can print on Line or dot matrix printer.

This problem is not solved from last 3 months and we dont get help anywhere.

We are using Java with Crystal Report XI R2 design for the same.
