Who has switched from Convio to NetCommunity?

We are considering switching from Convio NetCommunity because of Convio's limited integration with Raiser's Edge and would appreciate any information on how the implementation process went, what the benefits or problems to switching were and how the product has worked to bettered your site (and fundraising).

Flash Banner slide show problem !!

Hi Blackbaud community,

We are experiencing a problem with the Flash slide show that we want to put on our home page. Flash show contains two SWF files. The first one shows the images and rotates through them and other one plays YouTube videos if you click on the slide image. I successfully created a flash part and it looked great and whenever I updated the xml file (that controls the show) it worked fine. Only part that didn't work is playing the YouTube video. Somehow the first SWF slide show doesn't seem to connect to the second SWF file.

Someone suggested that I should implement the show through a formatted text and images part, so I pasted the following code into one, using swfobject.js to make it work:

The primary SWF works well enough, but I am still having the same problem where the linked YouTube video does not work.

The third thing I tried was to put it all into a frame part. Everything works great except that the menu part drops its menus beneath the frame!

I have two questions:

1 - What is the best method to put up a multiple SWF flash project?

2 - How can I make the menus drop-down on top of the Frame part instead of under it?

Layout and Template Change

We are in the mids of redesign our layouts and templates. We noticed after changing the template behind each page from old template to new templates, the parts on the page are scrambled. What's the best practices or guidelines in term of redesign layout and template for exisitng pages?

INTEGRATING IMAGES FOR MENU 2.0

Working on the main menu and have had the most difficult time integrating graphic images into a table menu they are just not appearing.

The CSS that I've abled on the main menu sections include the URL to the background graphic as shown here...

Using content captured in Netcommunity

We currently have users that login and utilize our website (BBNC) but are not connected to a blackbaud database (RE, EE). Is the only way to target individual content (name for example) through fields in RE or EE or can i use content captured on the website to create a targeted contant part?

Deleting Transactions in NetCommunity Donations

Do you know whether or not we can limit the ability per user to delete transactions in Net Community Donations? If so, how ? We don't want to remove the user from all other features...

authorize.net description field from netcommunity transactions?

We have recently implemented netcommunity and have run into a reconciling issue with our forms that are processed through authorize.net. Currently the authorize.net confirmation emails that we receive have an alpha numeric description field that does not associate it with a netcommunity form. Has anyone else run into this issue and have you figured out how to edit the netcommunity form so that the authorize.net description field displays the description of the form that was used? We have multiple donation and event forms and it would make it much easier to determine which transactions are for which forms before they go into batch. We are familar with pulling all these things through RE, but our accountant prefers to be on real time with the authorize.net transactions. Blackbaud's repsonse is to file a suggestion.

NetCommunity Emails Are Not Tracked in RE

Hello all, I've been having some trouble figuring out why Raiser's Edge is no longer tracking the NetCommunity emails. We've tried restarting the server like the Knowledgebase said to restore the tracking but it has not worked. For about two months, in the initial use of the program it was tracking and then just suddenly stopped. It is a bit frustrating trying to run reports on this information without it being tracked. Any ideas or suggestions?

We currently use NetSolutions and we were hoping to have a template designed that will give us a modern (ha!) edge, continues in the brand of the museum, but is easily distiguishable from the eNews. Does anyone have any pointers that they could give for design and integration? If someone could email me a sample, I would love them forever.

Download/Export Email Reports

Service Level Agreement

I'm currently adapting one from a standard website SLA, but if anyone has any pointers about how to gear this towards the kind of service NetCommunity offers then that would be helpful. I can't seem to find any form of SLA for Facebook or Myspace, which both offer a similar service.

Flipping skins / setting up test environment on different server

I am the NetCommunity CMS lead (but not a Web designer or expert!) at a major hospital system using both NetCommunity and Raiser's Edge. We're about to begin work with BBNC in creating new skins (e.g. layouts) for a new look and feel of our site that reflects the Web site of the main hospital (the main hospital doesn't use NetCommunity). For the most part, our content remains the same--we're just changing the skins which requires new layouts and templates to fit within those layouts and contain our page content (text and image parts). We are working with our BBNC client manager on this solution but there are so many questions yet to be addressed. The big challenge is that I'm a fundraising professional, not a Web expert, and so it's hard for me to know what exactly has to be done and how it's done. The main question we're dealing with is creating a test environment on one of our servers where we can refine and apply the new skins to the entire site and then make adjustments as needed--all the while our current site remains up (BBNC doesn't include a test or developmental environment). Then, when finally we're happy with the test site look, we go live. I still haven't figured out how you go live from the test site in a way that preserves current URLs (we have many inbound links that we need to keep up) and keeps us in sync with Raiser's Edge. Perhaps it's just an issue of the test site index (with the new skins) overwriting the live index--just as you can overwrite one Microsoft Word document with another bearing the same name. I'm wondering if any one out there has gone through a BBNC skin flip and set up their own test environment to do so. How did the transition from the test server to the live server go and what exactly did you do throughout the process? Feel free to e-mail me offline at wyatt.hornsby at uhhospitals dot org.
