When I need to make a gift change (most of the time this means moving a gift from one fund to another), I simply make the necessary changes and make a note of the changes in the gift notes tab. I am fully aware of the flaws in this system. Can anyone offer an alternative process? Does RE have a "journal entry" feature that tracks any changes made to a gift, similar to the Financial Edge? Thanks for the advice!

Open the gift and go to the Gift menu at the top. Then go down to Adjust. You should do all possible adjustments here. If you have FE it should go through next time you post, Otherwise, there is a financial report you can run to show all adjustments you've made so you can report them to Finance.
Yes, there is a much better, trackable way.
On your gift tab, select the specific gift you need to change. Then on the tool bar select GIFT, then from drop down select "ADJUST GIFT". Record changes needed. It's much more easy to track changes as previous amount, fund are shown as well. Place for notes and all. Also allows for reverse GL posting, especially useful if you're integrated with FE.
From the Reports function, you may also report on adjusted gifts. Our business office can track anything they need to also. Provides audit trail.
Only negative I've found is it doesn't allow an adjustment to 'campaign'. Fund tracks where the money went, but when I run some other reports I've gotten funds that normally wouldn't fall under the campaign from the original fund.
