    Importing Guests onto Registrants' records

When I try to import Guests onto Registrants' records I get an error message that says 'Required Field Missing: Participation.' Does anyone know what this means? According to the Import Guide, I have all the required fields and the REGImpID to link the guest to the Registrant. What am I doing wrong?

Any help with importing the fields to populate the Guest Name tag fields would be helpful, too. It doesn't appear as though I can do this with Import.

Some fields can be made required by your institution.  The base product has some required fields but additional fields can be made required.  When you go into a participant record is the participation field white or in color?  On mine it is white therefore, not required.  If yours is in color - someone at your institution at some point changed it to a required field.

    Melissa,

The Registrant's record has numerous required fields. Do I need to include all those fields in the Guest import, too?

Melissa is right on. If you have access to Config, you can go to Fields, Participant and unmark the Required checkbox in the Participation row. After the import, you can make it a required field again.

This information is also in Knowledgebase (BB450434): Error: Required field missing: Participation when importing guests.

    Yes,

Unfortunately an import exception report only tells you about the FIRST exception it meets.  You could go and fix that and run them again and encounter another exception on the same record.

You can only go and make the fields not required if you have the security rights to do so.  If you can I would think long and hard about removing the requirement.  Whomever made them required may have had certain reports they expected to use and wanted those fields populated.  Many of the fields are extremely helpful in reporting and not including them may mean down the road your reporting is less than ideal.
