    searchable grant databases

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good online searchable grants database service? I'm looking into Foundation Search and Big Online as opposed to the Foundation Center.

    Thanks,

    Lonna

We subscirbe to Foundation Search.  The only I think it's better then Foundation Center is that it groups the gifts by catergories for you.  But the data in all seems the same.  We can access Foundation Center at our local library for free, so I am trying to use that more.

The Foundation Center was my other option. Do you use their online subscription services at all?

    Re: searchable grant databases

I am assuming that it's a subscription that I am using at the library, but I could be wrong.   These are the fields that came across on Foundation Center when I looked up a Foundation:Name, Address, Phone & contact
    County
    Metropolitan Statistical Area
    Type of Grantmaker
    IRS Exemption Status
Financial Data (Lists most recent assets & total giving along with the year it's from)
    EIN
    999 links
    Date last updated
Donors (I believe if it's a family foundation it lists the person(s) that founded it)
    Background
    Limitations
    Purpose & Activities
    Fields of Interest
    Geographic Focus
    Types of Support
    Application Information
Officers & Directors (not the most current, but then again, neither is FoundationSearch)
    Memberships
Financial Data (again, the year it ended, assets, expenditures, total giving, qualifying distributions, giving activities including)
Selected Grants (lists the date of the most recent year on file)
FYI, the report I am taking this from, I printed on 4/22/08.  For the selected grants, it lists grants from 2004.  The most recent 990 was 2006 and the financial data was from the year ending 12/31/06.

    I hope that helps.
