Hi all, I'm hoping you can assist me with this issue. We just finished an event in which we had both individuals and contacts from different organizations attend. I've been given the task of isolating these same persons so we can be sure to send them an invite for this same event next year. It's easy to add an attribute to an Individual record but I'm not sure how to do this for an organization's contact(s). We considered:a) Adding an attribute to the organization's contact but we have instances where this individual is not a contact for this organization. Adding them will only clutter the organization's record and make it appear like they are a contact. I know we can add them as an Individual Relationship and not check the Contact box but again, it will only clutter the record.b) We could make up an individual record at the organization's address.c) We could add an attribute to the organization record itself but then we can't track it back to the particular contact (if indeed they are on the record as a contact. We are concerned our mail will not reach the person(s) if we use these options because there is a good chance it will be seen as junk mail and discarded.Does anyone have any advice or alternate manner in which to accomplish this?
Hi Ray, we don't have the events module so I use attributes as well. I can pull people who gave to that event (e.g. purchased a ticket) via appeal. I also have some people marked with a "include in mailing" attribute. For contacts for a company I have a "dinner event" contact option so I know which employee should be receiving the invitation. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
It sounds as if you do not have the event module. In the event module if they attended you would have a participant record for them (which may or may not be linked to them as an individual but can not be linked to an org contact) What we do with the event module is make an individual constituent record for them if they attended an event so they can be linked in the event module, so they can be linked to the org, and so they can be included in future mailings. I think even without the event module I suggest making an individual record.
I can't answer for the fact that you think it may not be delivered to them at work. Since they came to your event I would hope that they would not see it as junk mail. This speaks to possibly asking them for their home addresses when the register for an event.
