    Manager of Institutional Giving - New York Foundling

    Overview: Reporting to the Director of Development and Public Relations, the Manager of Institutional Giving is responsible for all aspects of the corporate and foundation giving program of The New York Foundling and The New York Foundling Fontana Center for Child Protection. This includes management of ongoing unrestricted grants, special project grants and grants supporting The Foundling's 140 Anniversary Capital Campaign.  The Manager participates as a member of a creative and collaborative development and public relations team.

    Responsibilities: Corporate and Foundation Relations: The Manager is responsible for providing research on potential sources of support from all areas of the foundation and corporate community and preparing proposals as needed.  The Manager also tracks all grants and prepares timely reports on same. The Manager will also communicate in a creative way with funders and participate in the planning and execution of cultivation events and site visits.

    Skills and Expertise: The position requires outstanding written and oral communications skills.  Knowledge of the greater New York City foundation community is preferred.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with Internet search techniques and be experienced working with Raisers Edge. The Manager will be expected to persuasively represent the Department in interactions with program staff in gathering of information for proposals and reports.

    We seek an energetic can-do team player who understands the relationships between corporate and individual philanthropy, and who will work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Development and the Manager of Volunteers and Community Relations to maximize all connected relationships within The Foundling and the Fontana Center. A keen interest Public Relations is also important. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to work independently and with minimal supervision, but who also understands the need to follow process in a complex not for profit environment.

    Minimum Requirements:  BA and 3 years related development experience.  Flexibility, energy, and a sense of humor.
