So, we are finally starting to track Appeals that are sent to constituents after years of not tracking this information. I added our most recent newsletter that was sent last week to the constituents who recieved the mailing. I then tested adding a gift, and to my horror the appeal response didn't update to "gave" (it remained "sent"). I looked up this problem in the knowledgebase to find a "this suggestion has been made" notice.
How have others dealt with updating this piece of information? Is there a way to globally update this field without running queries for each appeal on a regular basis? I can't imagine updating this manually for each gift is productive.
Thanks for your thoughts/suggestions!
Tony
Unfortunately this has been an outstanding suggestion for a long time - which is why I do not use the response field for most of my mailings (I just leave it blank). I use appeal reports to get number of responses (based on gifts) and response rates. It works whether or not you use response on appeal records.
Your data entry folks will have to open each record and go to the appeals tab and manually change it as they data enter or, as you said, you can use queries and global updates.
What they need is the ability in batch to have it bring up a window when you add that appeal to the gift to allow you to update the response.
This really shoud be brought to BB again so you should create a case and get linked to this suggestion. The more of us linked to a suggestion the more likely we will get it.
