    Data retrieval

This is hard to explain, but here it goes.

We are a land conservation organization and we need to share info from Raisers Edge with other employees within the organization without having to add additional user licenses, which is very costly. The fields that need to be viewed is the name, address, phone, email and some background info and the constituent code.

We don't want to create a relational client database since all the info is already in Blackbaud. How do you share your info with other staff?

    Thanks,

    Brenda

I believe you can set-up profiles, hide fields and/or create a custom view.  Jennifer Donlevie

     Brenda,

This really isn't an answer to your question, but I know Blackbaud has view only licenses for Financial Edge. We had looked into getting a couple of those. Much cheaper than a full license. If there is such a thing for RE that might help.

    Hello,

There is a Queue module for Raiser's Edge that allows you to schedule tasks to run automatically. You could set up some export tasks to run nightly that include the view only data you listed above. This exported data could be viewed without the need to log into RE.

I think Brian's idea is closes to what I think I would want.  I would export the data to an .mdb and allow these users access to that via Access.  I know you said you do not want another relational database but your choices are limited - more user licenses or another database.

Queue would automate the process but you could also manually export the file daily or often weekly is enough.  Since all you need to export are basic fields it won't be a very complicated export but how many records do you have in your database?
