Is there a trick that will allow me to using the down arrow in the distribution tab section of a JE batch to simply move down through a column instead of having to tab through the whole row to get to the next row?  Ctrl-Down works in the main part of the JE batch, but I can't get it or anything else to work in the lower distribution tab area.  Thanks.

If you are view a batch click the number of the row with your mouse, then you can use the arrow keys to move down a batch. However once you start editing in the batch you will have to click the number with your mouse again before you can use the arrow keys again. This is the only trick I know of.
