We are currently using FAWeb and are looking to implement NetClassroom soon. Does your school have any teacher rules for how soon assignment grades should be entered after the tests/papers/hws are given out to the students? If so, who enforces these rules and how? We still have a few faculty who just use FAWeb to post the final letter grade and don't put in numerical assignment grades. Any advice on how to get them on board? Or, does parental pressure provide enough of a push?
Parental pressure will not be enough push. You need to put policies in place and enforce them! Now in education edge you can query on gradebook last modified and current grades, so you can report at any time who is and is not using their grade book.
We have set in place that grade books should be updated on at MIN. a weekly basis. State that they MUST create assignment, and associate dates with those assignments. It is no different than a paper grade book, it needs to be filled in correctly. I would also rec. forcing a grading scale for your school (if you have a standard scale).
Becuase you are making an investment with NetClassroom, you need a way to protect that investment. One teacher that does not post grades, makes everyone look bad, but most parents do not complain until the end of a grading cycle.
Thank you for this. I am wondering how you deal with such assignments as term papers (10 pages). Is a time frame set? How about essay exams?
As far as term papers etc, we leave it up to the discretion of the individual teachers - within reason. Even if a term paper takes longer to grade there are other assignments that should be graded on a regular basis. Policies should be in place to keep teachers updating their gradebooks regularly - weekly bi-weekly, etc.

Anyone know how to do what Dan describes above?
