    Top 10 Prospects

Would anyone be willing to share how the code their top X prospects?  We are wanting to code our solicitor's top 10 prospects, but unfortunately, the rating in the proposal is already being used for something else (pre-dates me). Thanks!

That is exactly what the classification field (prospect tab - general section) is for.  Are you already using that field?

We thought of that, but we want it tied to the a specific solicitor for a specific proposal.  Any other thoughts?

    Re: Top 10 Prospects

Assign an Attribute to the Proposal (e.g., "Top 10 Prospect").

I added an attribute to their record called "Current Prospect."  Then we use action reports to follow trustee and staff actions.  This way you can query on and export information really easy.  I can send you our complete procedure process on current attributes if you want.

    Re: Top 10 Prospects

We use an attribute to code the top ten with separate codes for the next 20 and the next 30 on my prospect list.  These attributes can be used to refine an action report.  To pull up all the strategies in my top ten (which are entered as actions),  I run an action detail report and designate the attribute for top ten in the report run.  I can also do action summaries on each attribute to see if I'm doing enough moves for that level of prospect.

Nick...could you possibly send me a copy of your procedure process also?  I am trying to set up several different tracking processes right now for Major Gifts and other moves management prospects and can use all the help I can get!

    Thanks,

    Evelyn

There is a difference between applying the attribute to their record and applying it to the proposal.  You can only apply it to a proposal if you have the prospect module (prospect tab).

Do your procedures have tha attribute on the constituenr record or the proposal?

    Re: Top 10 Prospects

We code our top prospects with an assigned solicitor and prospect ratings. The assigned solicitor type is "Top Donor" so that we can tie it back to a specific solicitor. We query on our top donors where the assigned solicitor type is "Top Donor".  We then use a series of ratings where the source is "Top Donor" to help manage where in the donor pool they are: Top, Middle, or Bottom.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi NIck,

This is my first time using this blog on the AFP website and how exciting.  I would love to receive your Procedure Process on current attributes if your willing to send it to me.  This is exactly where I am in the organizational process.  I've read lots on knowledgebase from Blackbaud but this practical advice is excellent.

    Thank you,
