    Corrupt Database file

First off I am not sure of this is the correct forum to post my message. If not please let me know and I will move it.

I took over RE 7 about 1 year ago. Last month one of our users was unable to log into RE 7. I tried on the server end and got a torn page file error. I went to look for the backup and found out our most recent backup as over 1.5 years old. I sent the files out to have the data recovered. I in turn sent the file to BB for their help. They have since given me back an Access file which contains what appears to be 100's of tables. I have been told in order to get the data back into RE I have to go through the following procedure:

    1. Create import file from within RE - to get headings.

    2. Use Access to look at tables and create queries with the appropriate relationships - then export this information in CSV format.

     3. I then need to change the CSV file headings to match the headings from Step 1.

    4. Then I can import this CSV file with the data back into RE.

We made the decision to go with the Access file as it was a cheaper solution than the other being offered. However the onus is on us to do the manual work. I do not have a problem with this.

     My questions are as follows:

    1. Is there an easier way to do this?

    2. Do the above steps appear to be correct? (even though simplistic)

    3. Would there have been a better way to handle the corrupt data file?

    4. Where would I find information on building the appropriate queries and relationships within Access that would get my data back into RE correctly?

    5. Last but not least has anyone else had Torn Page file errors with RE?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am hoping someone could help shed some light on this issue.

I look forward to any assistance that can be provided. Thank you.
