Query on a certain time frame

I am trying to run a query to find donors that gave $500+ for 05 and 06 and the appeal to which they gave to, but have given nothing since. The problem is when I run it all their gifts from every appeal are showing up. How do I see the appeal that they gave to only during that timeframe. Under criteria, I am asking filtering using gift date and amount, but not sure what to do withg appeal.

From what it sounds like to me, you are running a query with criteria based on Summary but the output based on individual gifts. You will not get what you want. To get the results you are looking for you can save the query based on summary and do another query based on that one. In the new query go to Tools/Query Options/Record Processing then check the box for Select from query: (query with criteria based on summary)/OK. Criteria: Gift/Gift Date/Between 01/01/05 and 12/31/06. Output: Gifts/Appeal/Description Add date, name, etc. This will show each gift between 01/01/05 and 12/31/06 on a separate line. Another option: Reports/Financial Reports/Constituent Giving History General Tab: Include/Selected records/query with criteria based on summary) Include Gifts with these dates/Dates/<specific range>/01/01/05 to 12/31/06 Columns tab: be sure to select appeals to print This will show each constituent with each of their gifts between 01/01/05 and 12/31/06 below their name. I hope this helps. After rereading your message, it may be that you only want gifts of $500 or more. In that case simply do a Gift Query with gift amount great than or equal to $500 and Gift Date between your range. You can then output Appeal Description, etc. Michael Sherman Database Administrator Florida West Coast Symphony

Also remember that query is not a reporting tool. Sometimes you can absolutely never rely on the output in query to show you what you need. What I would suggest is that you use a query to get your ghroup but then use a report to show the results - often this is the only accurate way to do it. *** I can spell, I just can't type.
