    Date Formatting Problems

Hello, I am quite new to Crystal and I'm having some problems with a date field. The Crystal Report is being fed data from an Access database (orginal data from RE). Although the date shows up fine in the Access table, when Crystal displays the same field the date shows as 30/12/1899 which I've read is the null value or something. Can anyone suggest where I might be going wrong with this? Kind regards Keith Scott

Have you formatted your date field? I haven't had any dates show up like that, I do know they have many formatting types. Also, what format are you exporting in? If it is coming from RE are you using MDB? Patricia Laros Kingswood-Oxford School Database Management Gifts & Reporting (860) 233-9631 x 2351 [Email Removed]

    Date Formatting Problems

Hi Patricia, Thanks for your reply. Yes I have formatted the field in the report by right clicking on the field and choosing "format field" as it was showing up in the American date style so I created a custom format which was DD/MM/YYYY. I dont think this is where im going wrong. I exported from RE into a spreadsheet. I then imported the spreadsheet into an Access table to feed Crystal. I know this is very strange behaviour! The reason for me doing this is too lengthy to write about here but basically I couldnt get the report to display correctly when I exported straight to .mdb with relationships links intact etc. The dates that are appearing incorrectly appear fine in the spreadsheet and in the Access table but Crystal obviously isn't reading them as valid dates or something... I know I should probably get some training to sort this rather than pester you all but it seemed like something that might have an easy fix? Cheers Keith

    Date Formatting Problems

Sorry, I've just worked this out. The date field in RE was exporting to spreadsheet as a text field and confusing crystal. I changed the field type in Access to date/time and the problem was solved. Thanks anyway! K
