Where should I start with attendance?

We have used AO/RO (v6) for several years. We will be moving to EE (v7) over the next few months. I am the Tech Office person who has to tackle the attendance aspect of the conversion. Someone else in my office is doing most of the conversion work. Attendance is my little piece of the puzzle. I would appreciate suggestions for reading, warnings, sage advice, etc. In particular... When we switch to EE, we will use FAW for class absence reporting by teachers. Teachers will report only "absent" or "tardy". A person in the attendance office will determine which absences are excused and which are not. (Additionally, we want to track why the student was absent - medical, college visit, athletics, etc.) I don't see an obvious way for the attendance office person to get a list of current absence reports in a way that makes it easy to change the infraction from "absent" to "absent-excused-medical". We're still working out plans for training, but I want to get started on this soon. Any advice about what works and what doesn't at your school will be apreciated. bkg --- Edited at 1/15/2008 7:45:23 PM by Brian Gray
