    Does anyone have a sample test that can be given to test skills for a prospective DBA candidate.

    Microsoft offered the MCDBA (now it's called MCITP:DBA I think) certification. It was 4 tests - each one took about 2 hours to take. You can find sample questions online for those certs.     Do you mean a real DBA or Blackbaud's definition??? They are very different.
