Querying giving history for lapsed donors

I need a report with the following criteria: Gave $1,000+ during calendar year 2006, but no gift in calendar year 2007 with the ouput including the constituent's total giving history and solicitor. Is there a canned report to do this? I cna't find one! Thanks.

Kerri - I do not use the canned reports much because they rarely meet our needs, so someone else may have a better suggestion for you?

I would start by running the LYBUNT (last year but unfortunately not this) report under Analytical Reports. Check the option for creating an output query. Once you get that query, filter it using Criteria of Gift Summary greater than $999. Save the results as a new static query. Then use Export to get the remainder of your output - gift summary for total giving history & solicitor info; be sure to base the export on the static query you created with just your $1K+ donors. If you need a more detailed report style instead of an excel spreadsheet, you may need to create a Custom Report using Crystal.

I prefer simple queries. If I were running this I would use the "summary gift" information. Basically, "Total amount of gifts" greater than or equal to 1,000. When it asks you if you'd like to apply any applicable criteria, say yes. On the filter tab, put the date range. Then instead of using that query to export your information, use the export module to select what you want by using your query you just selected. Think of it this way: query=who I want export=what I want to know from their constituent record. Makes it easier I believe. --- Edited at 10/19/2007 1:06:41 PM by Alexander McCoy

Alexander - You didn't address the criteria of no gifts this year...that's where it gets more complicated. With the criteria you defined below you're only "finding" donors over $1000 last year, you're not accounting for the "no gift in calendar year 2007" as she originall asked. You definitely CAN query on this...but I find the LYBUNT report simplifies that function; why recreate the wheel? You are correct I did not see that line, I must've glanced right over it. In any case, I am not a fan of some of the canned reports simply because, as you customize your database, it becomes less and less useful. You are right though...why re-invent the wheel.
