    Audit software

Hello all We are considering buying additional software so that we will have audit trails of all data processing on Raiser's Edge. I believe that there are some commercial products available, do any other users use such products and are there any pitfalls to avoid? If you are running MS Sql, you can setup audit trails.

    Audit software

I wrote a VBA module a while back that audits changes made on the constituent record. This is application that captures changes made on the Bio1 and some of Bio2 tabs of the constituent record (anything that resides in the Records database table), addresses and phone numbers. It will give you the field value before and after the change, the user that made the change, the date the change was made and the name of the field it was changed on. It also tracks any deleted records or phones. Since it only tracks the preferred address it does not audit a deletion of the preferred address (this cannot by definition be done!) The accompanying audit viewer allows you see the changes that have been made over a period of time and filter them based on all the fields mentioned previously. If you are interested in hearing more about this product then please do not hesitate to contact me. David Zeidman Development http://www.zeidman.info  Check out my RE API blog http://re-decoded.com

David Thanks for that information. I will certainly keep it in mind. I have also looked at some of your other VBA developments which could be useful to us. we at University of Wollongong have almost committed to purchasing VBA but we have a long way to go in our planning process. I know that VBA will be useful but we haven't defined in detail what we want to achieve. Thanks for your help to-date.
