High School Schedules

We are looking at changing our schedule for High School. We are currently using a 10 day cycle with block classes. Odd blocks on one day and even on the next rotating through 10 days. Our 7th period at the end of the day is half a block to allow for electives and sports check-outs. I'm sure some of you out there may have figured out the ultimate, perfect schedule that makes everyone happy, or maybe at least most people happy. If you have time, can you send me a document that has your schedule? Or, you can post it here. We are wide open to change. Send them to Thanks! High School Schedules

I suspect every school has a unique schedule, in one way or another, and none of them think it's perfect (although they may think they've found the best compromise). Cate School, a boarding four-year high school, now has a Time Committee that has spent the last year looking at ways to improve all aspects of how we organize out time, including the academic schedule, and their first notable (and predictable perhaps) finding was that we just try to fit too much into the day. This may be one of the few scheduling issues we all have in common. But each school has it's own goals, philosophy and culture, which means there isn't a one-size-fits-all schedule. So, I think the first questions to ask are, what needs is your current schedule not addressing, and why? I'll be happy to share our schedule, BTW, but we're looking to improve it too, so it's all a work in progress. -- Matt Matt Perlee Technology/Scheduler Cate School --- Edited at 10/4/2007 3:20:13 PM by Matt Perlee
