    Solicit Codes

Hello All, Since the big conversion from RE6 to RE7, we have not taken advantage of using the Solicit Codes. We continue to rely on Constituent Attributes. One of the main reasons that we use them is because we need to use Export for our mailings (instead of the Mail Module) because our direct mailing company creates personalized, scaled Donor Reply Forms that are based on the donor's Last Gift Amount (and you can't get these Fields in Mail). That aside, can anyone tell me about the advantages of using Solicit Codes instead of Attributes? Thank you, Carla Robinson Administrator Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

Stick with Constituent Attributes. Frankly, I find the Solicit Code field on Bio1 silly and a waste of screen realestate. This is a text field and not a table which leaves room for operator error. I've seen Do Not Solicit, No solicition, DNS, No appeals, DoNot solicit, in the Solicit Code field (and this list does not include mispellings). Michael Sherman

    Solicit Codes

We use solicit codes as a table entry as well. We also use Mail module to do our big mailings so it makes sense for us to use the solicit codes. We used to do attributes but then there was a lot of duplicating work that did not need to be done. So now the only thing we use is solicit codes. OK, when the heck did they change that?! Thanks, Alan. Now I would use that field. Michael Sherman Database Administrator Florida West Coast Symphony

    Solicit Codes

The solicit codes are nice because they appear on the Bio1 Tab so someone looking at the record can easily see them. However, the filters tab does not include solicit codes throughout the system. You can however, include and exclude by attributes throughout the system. The other - and just important to us, reason is that you can document why and who added a an attribute to a record with the date - this is not possible with Solicit Codes.
