    FREE IN A PERIOD REPORT

I would like to know if any schools are experiencing the trouble we are having getting Blackbaud to reinstate a free in a period report that was available in Version 6. We used to be able to get a clean list of student/faculty free in each period in one concise report. Version 7 is not able to produce this report without tedious importing and adjusting of spreadsheets. Doesn't anybody else have security measures that require this report? If so, add your name to the list for Case Number 7253559. Carol Colluccio, Registrar, Mount Saint Mary Academy

Version 7 does have the report. Go to Reports - Scheduling - Free Period Reports. Larry

Have you used the Version 7 report? If so, how did you get a LIST of students WITHOUT exporting and deleting all the excess information? The report I ran to obtain 31 names was 46 pages long. Did you ever see the Version 6 report? In version 6 you ran one report. It was 70 pages long, but you ran it once and obtained lists for EACH day and EACH pattern. Now, I have to run the report 72 times to get each cycle day and each pattern; then export it to cut the 40+ page report for each down to 1 for each. Fill me in on your secret.

    FREE IN A PERIOD REPORT

I just ran a free period report for our senior class (76 students) requesting all of their free periods during our 8-day cycle. It was 25 pages long sorted by student last name and it showed all of the days of the cycle and the periods of the day that they were free. I agree that it is not as good as the old report, but it is far better than no built in report at all. Also, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you ask about "exporting and deleting all of the excess information."

I have done the same, however, this does not help me. When we have emergency drills, we have to tell the police within a maximum of 15 minutes, who is missing. We need to know who at a PARTICULAR TIME is free. I could not see a way to sort this report by time. Therefore, I have to run a report for each CYCLE DAY AND TIME PERIOD. This gives you a report filled with extra information between the names. I was instructed by Blackbaud to export this to Excel and manually weed out the excess material in order to get a 'clean list'. Would appreciate any other ideas, but have not been able to get any since Version 7.

I would like to add my name to the list, but not sure how to get there. I thought that I could only access my cases through case central. Is that incorrect? Please advise. We use this report daily right now for attendance purposes. Our students don't have study halls, so when they are free they are free. I have to print the who's free first each day because we are on a rotating schedule. We have teachers check in these kids and then they are free to go to the library, the computer lab, or wherever. Schedule changes are still happening, so the list keeps changing. We are currently using version 6 but we are going to EE next week and not sure how we are going to get this valuable information then. We are on a very similar schedule. If you are in Version 6, you have no problem producing this report. If you go to Version 7, and you want a list of students free in a particular pattern, you will have to export the report information into another program and compile your own list. The free in a period report that Version 7 produces gives each student, following each student is a list of free periods. Not like Version 6. If you would like to add your name to the list of people asking for this report in a different format, the case # is 7253559 and you can add your request in the box that appears at the bottom of the case. Good Luck with Version 7.
