How do others track preferred contact information for individual records in Raiser's Edge? An example would be our board of directors. Some prefer to receive notices by e-mail, some by phone and some by US mail. Janet Whitt Tanner Medical Foundation Carrollton, Georgia

Hi Janet. Under the more button on Bio 1 there is a place for mailing attribute. We created a table that allows us to send specific mail to specific addresses. It is best to run the mailing thru RE Mail to include or exclude specific mail attributes. I would be happy to share our table. Karen H. I believe the attribute you are speaking about is the address attribute. We actually use this attribute for identifying how certain addresses are used and results from NCOA checks.
We use a combination of methods. We actually have been meeting recently to formalize these methods a little more.
For snail mail - we have certain exclusionary solicit codes: Do Not Mail (absolutely no mail), Events Only (only event related mail- no solicitations), Year End Appeal Only (people elect to receive one appeal from us as the only mail they wish to receive).
Our quarterly newsletter has its own Constituent Attribute. A person can be marked Always or No. They will always get the newsletter independent of criteria or they will never get the Newsletter. Otherwise, we use criteria each quarter to pull a list.
We also have a Constituent attribute called Special Mailing. We use criteria to pull for any appeal/event mailing, etc. It changes with each mailing. The Special Mailing attribute is used for a person who should always get a certain mailing. For instance, Summer Appeal - Joe Smith should get this appeal no matter if he qualifies by criteria. Joe always wants to give to this specific appeal and he let us know that.
We are meeting on email in the next couple of weeks. I can share then if you wish - I hope this helps.
From what you are asking, I would probably use Solicit Codes of Email Only and Phone Only. We are not ready to do that at this time as we cannot guarantee that we can send every mailing out using different methods.
