    Consecutive Giving Years

We are trying to create a consecutive giving years report for donors that have given at least one gift in a fiscal year for 4 consecutive years (2003-2007). We are getting people who have made multiple gifts, but, not 4 years in a row. Help. Patricia Lowry, Coordinator of Donor Data & Research

Need more information to help you. How did you set up your report. If you use the consecutive years report I would put in the count up to this period the last day of the FY in 2007. I would then go to the format tab in the detail section and put in that they have to have given for at least 4 years. If you did that and still got people who did not give for 4 consecutive years then you need to call Blackbaud. Melissa S. Patricia - The only way I have found to accomplish this is by exporting the Gift Summary Total Amount Given by fiscal year (so you'd have 4 gift summaries) & then doing a function (COUNTIF) in excel. Once you get that group of donors identified, you can create an output query & dump it into another export/report to get the fields you need. Because of the way our system is set up, the report Melissa suggests doesn't work for us. Please contact me by email, if I can answer more questions. Why does the report not work for your setup? Can you share so we all know. Melissa S. Thanks for all the input. The report was actually working, it was just me that wasn't. I was looking at it like it was calendar year, when in fact it was fiscal year. Thanks again. Melissa - I didn't say that right...I was responding to another post about membership reports (and apparently thinking about that as I was responding to this one)? The reason the Consecutive Year report doesn't work for me is that the request I get is usually attached to a dollar value: give me all the donors who've donated at least $10K to XYZ Fund at least 3 times in the last five years. I suppose you might be able to get at it if you used a query of all your $10K donors in the report? But I just find it easier to do it the way I described it to Patricia - I already have an export all set up with each FY summary. Sorry for the confusion! You could set this up in a constituent query using summary information. You filter would be the following: Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2003-12/31/2003 AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2004-12/31/04 AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2005-12/31/2005 AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2006-12/31/06 AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2007-12/31/2007 If you need to include specific funds you can use the following: Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2003-12/31/2003 AND Funds_ONE OF 'x' 'y' 'z' (within the filters tab) AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2004-12/31/04 AND Funds_ONE OF 'x' 'y' 'z' (within the filters tab) AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2005-12/31/2005 AND Funds_ONE OF 'x' 'y' 'z' (within the filters tab) AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2006-12/31/06 AND Funds_ONE OF 'x' 'y' 'z' (within the filters tab) AND Summary Information_Summary for gifts_Total Number of Gifts GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 1 (filters tab) Gift Date BETWEEN 1/1/2007-12/31/2007 AND Funds_ONE OF 'x' 'y' 'z' (within the filters tab) I hope that this information helps.
