    Recording event ticket purchases

We are having our first fundraising dinner. We do not have the Event module. What is the best way to record ticket purchases? I was thinking of adding an appeal to everyone who gets the invitation and then using their response to record ticket sales. Would you do the same for sponsors? Any other ideas?
    Thanks,

I do it a couple of ways. First, I put in attributes that I sent an invitation, and then if they respond by buying tickets, sending a donation, or letting me know they can't attend, I change the attributes description accordingly. If they send in money, I would give it a certain appeal if it was just a gift, for tickets or for sponsorship. The last thing I would do if they bought a ticket is type the number of tickets purchased in the reference field of the gift record. I did this in case I wanted to pull it out to put in a mail merge. I hope that helps. Katie Kupiecki Membership Services & Development Support Air Zoo Portage, MI

I wouldn't use constituent attributes - no need. You can use appeal and do the same thing and you can add the same appeal to the payment on the gift tab and get appeals analysis. Adding the number of tickets purchased and the type (if different ticket types) in gift attributes is also something er do. Even if you have the event module I would suggest doing both of these things as reporting is much easier. Melissa S.
