Combining Two Codes For Export To Accounting

Our Accounting department is looking to automate gifts entered into the Accounting system (Cost Point). We are wondering if there is an automatic way, when a gift is saved,to use the GL Distribution field or perhaps a gift attribute to automatically generate a code combining two other fields in Raiser's Edge plus a filler middle number- for example, 12345.00.67890 - where the first five digits come from a fund's project ID field and the last digits come from the donor ID number?

The only automated way that I know of (although I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong) is to make use of a VBA customization. This would be a relatively straight forward customization that could be done in house (if you have the VBA expertise) or an external consultant (it really should not take more than a day's work to complete) Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any more information. As long as all of the fields are available in export, you could look at creating a custom Crystal report. That way you can get the filler numbers in. If you set it up properly, you could export from Crystal to an excel or csv file that usually imports into most accounting packages.
