I know many of you input multiple gifts through batch. I'm entering my first recurring batch for payroll deductions and in the end will have over 800 entries. Is this too large? Will it take an extended period of time to commit and post a batch with this many gifts?

Also, I notice when you do a recurring batch, you have to go in and change the date, check number, check date, etc. for each line. I tried changing the highlighted row on top in hopes that it would carry through, but it didn't. Is there a short cut to updating these fields in recurring batches without having to do it line by line?

    Thanks for your help!

I have an employee batch that is 2600+ records. It takes a few minutes but not too bad. The best way to handle date changes is to make sure the batch is a recurring batch and it will prompt you for the gift date and GL post date when you post it in RE. Otherwise...you can do a global gift chnage and pull up your gift batch query and chnage check date, check number, any reference fields or other info specific to that batch. What I have found to be easier than a re-curring batch is simply a fresh import from my payroll deduction register each pay period. I get the file from payroll every 2 weeks and I have my const id the same as our employee id so I import based on the const id. I just add columns for the check date, check number, ref, camp, fund appeal, etc... and I do the 2600+ record import in about 20 minutes. I've been doing this for a year or so and it works like a charm. If you want details contact me offline at [Email Removed]. Hillary Murphy Financial Administrator Phoebe Foundation

You can change to gift date and post date when committing on the recurring gift tab. I do a global change after committing the batch to change the check number and date before running my batch reports. My payroll deductions are not as large, so import may be the way to go as Hillary suggested.

You can also globally change date while in the batch - when you are in the date field you go to the Tools menu and click on Global Change Date. This works for some other fields too. Ellen Harris Conemaugh Health Foundation [Email Removed]

Ellen....I have tried that in the past and it wasn't a feature. I know it works in Financial Edge batches and I wondered why RE didn't implement it. Maybe I missed the addition! Thanks! I'll try that. Hillary Murphy Financial Administrator Phoebe Foundation
