I have the same problem and have been unable to find a solution. I think it has something to do with incompatibility between Microsoft and Blackbaud.
Good luck.

You could type up the template letter in Word, spell-check it, then cut and paste it into your export, right?
I have had the exact same experience. What I am wondering now is if anyone has purchased spell check software from a non-Microsoft vendor. Another strange thing that makes me think it is on the RE side is that if you do not go through "Mail" to move the info into mail merge but go through "Export" MS Word is able spell check. Strange.
Word actually looses the ability to spell check after any document is merged -- through RE or just in Word. The spell check needs to be run before merging or once the letters or merged you can go into Word, Tools, Language, Set Language and UNCHECK the box that says Do not check spelling and grammar. Then you came Spell check the entire merged document.
I have tried that many times but it will either recheck the "Do not spell check" or it will say the document has been spell checked even when there are obvious errors.
I just double checked and had to save the merged letters, then uncheck the box, recheck and uncheck the box again. It worked. When I just unchecked once, the program missed the change.
kinda like banging your head against a wall....
I am so glad that I am not the only one that has an issue with spell check.
Is Blackbaud actively working to resolve this? From my user perspective, this is the single biggest issue with RE because of the embarrassment it can cause.
What version of RE is everyone running on?
Has anyone heard of this being addressed on an upgrade, if so, which one?
We're preparing for an upgrade and I don't see this addressed, maybe we should consider holding off ????
