    Jury Duty

How do other clients handle jury duty employee reimbursement in the payroll process?

Many companies pay the employees as normal (assuming salary), and then have the employee endorse over the jury duty payroll check back to the company.

Where do you post the reimbursement to? We did pay them their actual salary.

I would suggest any non-payroll account (so payroll expense matches payroll reports etc.). A misc income account would probably be the most appropriate. Their payroll is a valid employment expense but could be split into jury duty payroll expense for the portion related to non-attendance.

We do the same thing - pay as normal, have employee endorse the check and post it to misc income. It is such a non-material amount for us. Also posting against payroll makes it difficult to balance. You create an account and put in whatever category makes sense to those you report to as well.
