Hi Ayse, I have used the National Insurance number (Social Security Number in US version) a few times for different reasons. Basically it can be used wherever a unique id is needed. This can be for integration to another system. The benefit of using the National Insurance Number is that you can use it to look up individuals on the constituent search screen and it is one of the keys used for import. This makes it very useful and powerful. A few pointers to look out for though. Clearly make sure you do not already have any valid National Insurance numbers in the system before you use it for a different purpose. Also if you use a number that has a similar number of characters to the National Insurance Number then RE will format it with hyphens. This can be problematic. We use the National Insurance field to record the unique Student ID as we use that for all Alumni of Leeds Met University. Works really well as a field in terms of queries, imports and reporting. Does that help? Kate
