If you have an excel list (or .csv) or an access database file, just use outlook (or word). You can insert custom fields and things just like in a regular mail merge, only you email it out instead of mailing it. I sent 42,000 out last christmas :) Send me an email to [Email Removed] and I'll send you a procedure that I wrote to do it... Note to anyone else: If you post here saying you want this, you won't get it. If you want it, send me an email. I repeat, if you post here with your email or just a me too, you will not get it. Thanks! Doug Doug Creek University of Alaska Database Administrator [Email Removed] Visit the RE User Forums! http://www.reusers.server-planet.com/

Anyone doing this with Novell GroupWise? I had a program that I paid about $75 for and it work really well with Eudora. They changed our program and now the program does not work. thanks Joyce

You may not need to purchase this: If you have the file with e-mail addresses in and Excel worksheet, you can cut and paste them directly to the TO: box of the Outlook message. You don't need a special program. -- I just found this out in the last few days! (But, you may instead want to paste them to the BCC: box, adding your own e-mail address to the TO: box. This way your recipients won't see the addresses of all others)

Its not a purchase, its built right into outlook (same idea as a mail merge in word, just with an email). And copying it into the BCC (or TO) field like that doesn't allow for any personalization of the email... Just my 2 cents... Hi We now use Net Solutions - Net Mial which works well but there is a fairly large cost. Prior to that we used a freebie called Worldcast, marketed by by Fairlogic. You can Google them then download from the web. We were pretty happy with the product although we found the filtering of bounces didn't work quite as well as we hoped (but it was free!). I understand Outlook can be used to send mass emails, e.g. through a merge function/excel list, but that doesn't get around the potential problem of becoming listed as a 'spammer' if your server is sending out large volumes of email. Does anyone have any information on this? We want to send out large emailings, but don't want to get blacklisted in the process. I know there is software out there, but does anyone know of any UK based email software they could recommend? Many thanks Rachel

Our organization had a long run in with being put as a spammer on list. We noticed back in February that Hotmail, AOL, and MSN had listed us as spammer, so all emails going to these places from elmira.edu were undeliverable. They only thing I can do is warn you that if you get put on any of these list it takes more then two moths to get off them, our email guru spent weeks doing everything possible and then we had to wait a long time for the other companies to respond.

We use FirstClass for email (migrated off Outlook because of too many viruses) and a compatible program called MassMailer for sending mass email. It allows you to send out groups of email at intervals and avoids appearing as SPAM. We haven't had any problems - except that the version we have doesn't allow attachments. Can you share where you can find if you are on these aol, hotmail etc. spam lists? I did a quick search and can't find these lists online. Or is there a quantity of emails that makes you vulnerable to be caught up in these spam lists? Thanks Tina Gorski-Strong The Wheeler School

We found out because emails started bouncing back and the phone at our IT helpdesk kept ringing over and over and over again. Our email guy set up an account with hotmail, msn and aol to test it out on. He is keeping these accounts just incase it happens again.

We use an email service. Constant Contact. It takes care of making sure your email is not seen as spam. It also gives you bounce back emails, bad email addresses. It gives you statistics like, what per cent of email of email addresses opened your emails, whether they click any links in your emails. So far we like the service and have had no problems or complaints. www.constantcontact.com  Cindy Holma American Civil War Center [Email Removed]
