    Audit Trail

How do you audit the database to see who made specific changes. IE: If someone changes the address and then someone else does a global change for county or region, how do you know who was responsible for just the address? Kim

I do not think this is possible with the basic RE package. It will possibly change in future versions (or so was hinted at the conference) Some users have found ways to use programming to capture this but that is way above my skill level. You may want to post this question on the Other RE User forum. http://reusers.server-planet.com/  You'll get lots of advanced users who may have done this before. *** I can spell, I just can't type. SQL 2005 will do this automatically. You may need to set some switches to do so. You will also need to use the SQL Tools to access this information. You won't be able to access it from the RE front end. We're in the process of upgrading to SQL 2005, so I should be able to give you more details early next (calendar) year. Drew J. Red-Gate SQL Log Rescue looks like it might enable you to do this (amongst other things).I haven't yet tried it but they have a 14 day trial version. If you do try it I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

Melissa alluded to a way to capture an audit trail programmatically. This is something that I have done for a client of mine previously. It was set up so that any changes to the constituent would be traced. An audit viewer tool was also created so that users could search for specific changes on records done by a specific user, on a specific record, on a specific field at a specific time (or any combination of these criteria).
