    Social Security Number

We want to enter our volunteers social security numbers as they are working with children and it is an added form of protection for us. My question is this, I have a lot of people accessing the database, and do not feel that everyone needs to be able to see the social security number field. Is it possible to blank it out for certain users? Susan Helander

This is not currently possible. It is a real oversight one which has been addressed in the coming version of 7.81. It will also prevent certain users from viewing credit card details - they will be masked instead with only the last digits being shown. (Currently you can only have the whole number showing or not showing). A long while ago I wrote a customization to prevent certain constituent information from being show on a record depending on which security group the user was in. This is still possible to do if the new functionality does not fulfil your requirements. David Zeidman Development http://www.zeidman.info

Actually, I believe you can do this. If you go into security, records, constituent and look at the bottom of the window - scroll the miscellaneous constituent options and uncheck social security number. I could be off base here but I thought I'd throw this out. Nora Isaac Manager, Information Technology The ALS Association, Greater Phila. Chapter [Email Removed]

I retract what I said. Thank you Nora, I guess I never scrolled down all the options in that list! David Zeidman Development http://www.zeidman.info

You are welcome, David. It took me quite awhile to realize I needed to scroll down to view more items. I learn something new about RE or FE almost every day. Nora Nora Isaac Manager, Information Technology The ALS Association, Greater Phila. Chapter [Email Removed]
