Reserving a block of seats for a participant (EVENT MODULE)

I know that this has been filed as a suggestion, but I'm wondering if anyone's created a good work around for this issue. Here's what I'm looking for... John Smith buys a sponsorship with one of the benefits being a table of 10. When that is entered into the event, I would like to show those 10 seats as "reserved." This would help show a more accurate number of seats available when glancing at the event. Right now, the only way I know how to do this is create dummy records. But this is a time intensive process and it sure would be nice to have a solution. I appreciate any suggestions or solutions you may have! Thanks, Tiffany

I created a Complimentary Ticket and a Premium Ticket. I use the complimentary tickets for special invites to individuals and corporate sponsors (some of our levels get less than a table) and the premium ticket for spots given to our head table guests. Tiffany,

What we do is we have set levels for our sponsorships for the events that we do. We also do a split goft do show were the money from the sponsorship is going. for example: If the sponsorship level is for $5000.00 then your split goft would look like this Sponsor $3235.00 Advertising $265.00 Tickets $1500.00. In the reference you should put in the level of sponsorhsip that the Company purchased from you so that your employees know what they should be getting for that price. Also when you run reports it would show the split and how much is going to what area. If you need any more help please feel free to email me directly and i will try to help you somemore.

Tiffany, This doesn't really address your question about a good count of seats available, but maybe would help in getting a ball park number. I set up a seating plan with the number of tables available. As these tables are sold, I name them for the sponsor, beginning with Table 1. My table names include a special character at the end of the name if the table has been donated back. So, assuming I have 100 tables for my event. If I look at the seating chart and see that i have sponsor names down to Table 92, and I have 5 tables with the special character indicating a table donated back, I would subtract 5 from the 91 named tables, giving me 86 tables sold, with an assumed 10 people per table, or 860 seats resewrved. It sure beats adding "Guest of" dummy records. Hope this helps somwhat. Jo Jo Ward Neuhaus Education Center (713) 664-7676 ext. 233 [Email Removed]

Thanks for the responses guys. Jo's answer really is addressing the question I had...which is how to quickly reserve a block of seats for an event, before the individual guest names come rolling in. I'll give your suggestion a shot. It does help with full tables, now I need to figure out the best way to denote partials. Thanks so much!

We have a lot of corporations and individuals that buy tables and usually we never get the names of their guests. I just assign John Smith to that table 10 times. If and when we get his guests names we will make them a guest of Mr. Smith. Michael J. Sherman Donor Services Manager The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay 1307 N. It is very time consuming to set up all the seats at one time; however, I figure we have to set them up sometime. I also register the guests or registrants at the time I set up the main registrant or sponsor. We set each reg/guest up as fully as possible other than the name (if we don't know it). We put them in as the last name of the person and the first name Guest of. We put them in a seating group, set up their participation (dinner/golf/ presentation, etc.) The only thing that needs to be changed when and if we get it is the name of the person. It would be very nice to have a feature that adds the appropriate number of participants based on the how the unit is set up. On our wishlist, I guess.
