    run different versions

Can any one tell me if you have Account for non-profits version 6 and are moving to FE with the test database, have both versions on two different servers if you are able to have both applications installed on one work station? I am the IT person and I would like to be able to test out the FE but also be able to access the live version in non-profits from just my work station, incase I have to provide support for problems.

Robi - No you can't have both AFN 6.x and FE 7.x loaded on the same workstation. I would just access one or both with remote access since they will be on two separate servers. - George Envision For Non-Profits Consultant for Blackbaud products [Email Removed] 727/442-1996 www.EnvisionFNP.com

That sounds like a great idea. I will do this because there really isn't enough room on my desk for two workstations.

During our upgrade we had a test version running on a laptop. We actually restored and upgraded to Financial Edge about 4 times, working on ideas and recreating the test environment. Our production database is on a CITRIX server, and we did all the test upgrades on a laptop. After the final conversion I kept the V6.4 software on my hardrive and still pull up the old database sometimes for various reasons. It was so slick! Because we did several test upgrades, our final upgrade was flawless. I would highly recommend doing this.

We actually sign the contract next week to move to FE but we aren't going live until January 1st. So we are going to have plenty of time to do several upgrades and restores. I will be getting FE up and running with a copy of our database sometime in August. Right now we have a few reporting access databases that we use because higher ups don't like the way Non-Profits reports look, and run. Toby at BB assured us that we would be able to create these in FE so I will be doing that for the next few months.
