    Massive Record Clean Up -

In the traditional consideration our database has low duplication when using typical RE criteria - first name, last name, address. However if you use last name and address the amount of duplication deminishing any hope of my Ambien working at night. I have a big problem with what appear to be family records that have been entered individually with no linking of relationships or sharing of records. Perhaps big is an understatement it is HUGE - its roughly 10% of my database.

The problem is further componded by our online system - convio with has no mechanism for creating relationships or sharing addresses - so even if I get this problem resoved in RE world - when bring Convio data into my safe and sane RE world I recreate my problem.

So any suggestions by those that have fearlessly gone before me?

In all honesty I really don't know where to begin making sence out of the obviously shared address and relationships. The mail house dedups on address so ideally only one person gets something per address - however what if it is the 10 child that participated in a walk and not the parent. I've suggested we eliminate the addressee line for something generic - but there are still some Major Donors, Board members, Vendors -etc we would want to address to.

So any suggestions comments are welcomed.

    thanks,

Scott: Happy to read your message (but soooo feeling your pain). I'm the new DD here and the number of duplications on our system is scary. We have a list of 10,000 and that's relatively small, i know. But is there some reason we can't put the same family on the same record? I would rather have notes w/key words out the ying yang than all these dupes. Kate Clinton Dir. Development Elders in Acton Portland, OR [Email Removed]
