    Where to indicate ask amounts?

We recently conducted a campaign in which we divided our prospects into 5 different groups based on their past gifts. Each group got the same letter with a different ask amount in it--i.e., our biggest donors were asked for $100 a year for 5 years, while our smallest donors were asked for a one-time gift of $25.

I am getting ready to do an appeals global add to add an entry into each recipient's Appeal tab. I was going to create a package for each ask amount. However, we want to know how others include their ask amounts. In the comments column? Somewhere else that works better than embedded within a package description in an Appeal?

This was discussed on another forum. See thread for that discussion. http://www.reusers.server-planet.com/showthread.php?t=89  Denise Stengl School Sisters of St. Francis Milwaukee, WI [Email Removed]

We created giving level appeals for each giving level group. When we report on the appeals in format you can pull on notes, attributes, pkg., expenses, actions. Zoe LaRocca CMH Foundation

We use the Package to code and track who the person we are asking are -- to check response (patient, gave last year but not this, gave some year but not this, first time donor last year, etc. - to track our response. We use Comments (and the Prospect tab) to track ask amount. I usually put just the amount as the comment, but if you have multi-year pledges, I would use package to track those. It seems like it would be too complicated to just use the comments section. Plus, if someone came in after you, your description in Package could really help them understand better how donors were approached. If it is a direct mail (annual fund) request, we just use comments in appeals. It is easy to query on the amounts - just use the * (asterisk) before and after the amount you are looking for, in case they were typed in differently. If we are soliciting larger donations that we would do more than just send a DM piece, we use proposal and STILL add the ask amount in the comments section. Hope this helps!
