dropping email notices from NP Community Forum

Has anyone else considered dropping the email notifications from the NP Community forum now that BB has folded American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity into this forum. No offense to either of these great institutions but the postings will likely be so specific to their institutions and they are so large that too many emails will come through that I don't need. I though Red Cross had its own forum? Why did it get folded in with NP Community? Why would they do this BEFORE allowing people to sign up for email notificatiosn for specific subjects not just entire forums. Seems silly to me. I've had to take myself off email notifications for this forum. Sorry guys - catch me on the other forums. *** my spelling is fine, it's my typing that stinks. Where is spell check? Melissa S. Yup! This is very recent. I thought of creating a rule but I just unsubscribed. Hopefully, if there is a general question about RE Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity will post on the regular forums. Michael J. HELLO - I sent an email to the webmaster and got the reply below. Did anyone else know you didn't need to subscribe to the whole forum but that you could just get email notifications on particular subjects? Obviously Michael and I didn't. When did this become available? Melissa: Thanks for your email. You actually can go in and select which subjects within the Nonprofit Forums folder that you want to review. To do this: 1. Open the Forums and select Preferences 2. Under Forum Email Notifications, place your cursor on the Nonprofit Community option and double-click. This opens that Forum area, so that you can uncheck American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity to choose not to receive postings to that subject. 3. Click Save to save changes. If you need any further assistance with this, please let me know. *** my spelling is fine, it's my typing that stinks. Where is spell check? Melissa S. Ok, so what I'm doing wrong. I unchecked the items I didn't want, clicked save and all of the items were checked again. I closed the window, opened again and all items were checked. How do you get the item to stay unchecked permanently?

What I noticed is that the checkbox next to the whole forum has to stay UNchecked on th main screen. If you check that box you are signed up for them all. Had I known this feature was available 2 yearsa go i would have subscribed other users here but just for their topic area (Gift entry and Records for my DE person for example) I didn't ask them to sign up because email notifications are a lot for me to handle and she is so busy. She could do just those subjects however and not be overwhelmed! Oh goodness - I rememebr asking for this in Beta testing the forum but never knew it ever happened. *** my spelling is fine, it's my typing that stinks. Where is spell check? Melissa S. Okay - here's the process - I ran into the same problem with it not accepting my save. Unsubscribe from the forum and click save. Go back into proeferences and DO NOT click on the button to subscribe - just click on the name of the forum. You can now uncheck/check those subjects you want and click Save. That should work. Good luck. *** my spelling is fine, it's my typing that stinks. Where is spell check? Melissa S.
