    International Addresses

I had a question arise today that I was hoping one of you might be able to assist me with. One of my users is going to be sending a list of international addresses to a mail house and they have requested the list be in comma delaminated format. The problem is that some of the int'l addresses run up to 8 lines long. She is not certain that the mailing house will print the labels according to country requirements (I have asked her to make contact with them to find out their procedure). This also becomes a problem for us when doing our own mailings. Because of the length of the address, she has now had to begin using name tag labels instead of regular address labels (Avery type). I was wondering how other people handle these lengthy int’l addresses when printing labels. Thanks. Cindy

We have many international addresses in our database and do not have issues in this area. If by 8 lines you mean the addressee, 5 street lines, city & zip comb., and country then your data should fit. We use regular address labels and the only time I have an issue is with add/sals that are more than 45 chars long. Questions: Do you use the mail function to export the addresses or are you going straight from Export to Excel/Access? By using the mail function of RE you can run truncation reports which will tell you if there will be an issue. I will warn you that we repeatedly have an issue with cities in New Zealand not exporting, no matter which extraction method we use. Support hasn't exactly gotten that resolved for us.
